I'm Shivan Bhoelai, and breeding is the work I love most. I work as an independent breeder. Companies bring me in when they want an experienced pair of hands on a project, whether that's starting something new or getting more out of a program that's already running. Tomatoes are where I feel most at home, and my approach is practical and to the point. I focus on what actually decides whether a variety makes it: yield first of all, together with taste and solid disease resistance.

I step into your program as an external senior breeder, there for as much or as little as you need: setting strategy, guiding crosses and selection, prioritising the pipeline, and making the key go/no-go decisions that keep things moving. I also mentor junior breeders, working directly with your live program.
Sometimes you just need an expert eye on one thing. I run sharp, fixed-scope projects: program audits, resistance and marker strategy, hybrid pipeline decisions, getting a drifting program back on track, and seed-production readiness. Each one ends in clear, practical next steps.
I help companies move off scattered spreadsheets into breeding software that actually connects their pedigree, phenotype, and marker data. I also build focused AI tools that speed up specific, costly decisions. It should strengthen the expertise behind a program, not replace it.
